Trade-Based Scholarship Program
The Coos-Curry Electric Charitable Foundation is proud to support local students pursuing careers in the skilled trades through our Trade-Based Scholarship Program.
This scholarship is for students who enjoy hands-on work, want to learn a skill they can build a career around, and are committed to strengthening the communities they call home.
Who This Scholarship Is For
You may be a good fit for this scholarship if you:
- Are 16–22 years old
- Live within Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative’s service territory
- Are a current high school senior, recent graduate, or equivalent
- Plan to attend a trade school, technical college, apprenticeship, or vocational program
- Are interested in a hands-on career that serves your community
- Applicants must be Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative members, or have a parent or legal guardian who is a member in good standing.
Employees of Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative or Beacon Broadband, and their dependents, are not eligible.
Eligible Trades
- This scholarship supports a wide range of skilled trades, including but not limited to:
- Electrical trades and line work
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Welding
- Carpentry and construction
- Automotive or diesel technology
- Manufacturing
- Forestry and natural resources
- Maritime trades
- Healthcare trades
- Beauty trades
- Other skilled trade or technical programs
- If your program focuses on practical, hands-on skills, it may qualify.
Scholarship Details
- Two scholarships of $1,000 are awarded each year
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school or training program
- Funds may also be used for required tools or materials (with documentation)
- Recipients are selected with an emphasis on trade diversity, geographic representation, and community involvement
How Applications Are Reviewed
The Foundation looks for applicants who demonstrate:
- Genuine interest in their chosen trade
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Community involvement
- Hands-on experience or a clear desire to learn
- Clear goals for how this career will support their future and their community
