As an early holiday surprise for many of you, Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce we will be giving back $1.94 million in Capital Credits beginning the week of December 7, 2020. If you were a CCEC member in 1991, 1992, or 1993 and received a capital credit allocation for those years, you can expect to receive a check in the mail this holiday season.
Capital credits are just one of the features that make CCEC unique. As a member-owned cooperative, CCEC does not earn profits, unlike investor-owned utilities that design rates to maximize profits. CCEC sets rates to cover costs, plan for future growth, maintain good financial parameters, and provide stability. When revenues exceed the cost of doing business, CCEC has earned “net margins”. These net margins are allocated to members in a ratio proportionate to the amount of electricity the member purchased during the year net margins were earned, called capital credits. This December, approximately 5,600 capital credit checks will be mailed to our members.
