PORT ORFORD, OREGON- Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative (CCEC) is reporting approximately 1,350 members are without power.
The high-wind weather event caused many power outages across CCEC’s entire service territory. CCEC crews are working to assess and repair electrical system damage as quickly as possible. Damage repair is being prioritized to ensure public and crew safety while efficiently restoring service to all members. The number of small system outages makes it difficult to estimate and communicate time to restore power in each situation.
Additionally, CCEC’s internet service provider is experiencing outages affecting CCEC telephone and internet communications. CCEC asks members to report outages via telephone by calling (866) 352-9044.
For restoration updates, visit our online outage map at www.ccec.coop. Thank you for your patience as our crews work to quickly and safely restore power.
Those who depend on electricity for medical equipment should activate their emergency backup plan for alternate sources of power or alternate lodging.
If using a portable generator during an outage, members are reminded to never operate a generator in an enclosed area or fuel it while it is running. For the safety of our line crews, never connect a generator directly to your home’s wiring unless a transfer switch has been installed by a licensed electrician.
CCEC reminds the public to stay clear of downed power lines and report them by calling (866) 352- 9044.
Those with access to CCEC’s website and Facebook page can stay current on restoration efforts and the latest updates as available. However, CCEC reminds members not to use Facebook or other social platforms to report outages or relay any account information.
