It’s that time of year again when Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative and Beacon Broadband come together to launch their annual October Food Drive. This joint effort serves as a demonstration of their commitment to the local community and combating food insecurity.
Last year, the determination of CCEC and Beacon Broadband yielded remarkable outcomes, with donations from members and employees surpassing 3,600 pounds of food. These contributions played a crucial role in assisting local food banks and churches in surrounding areas, including Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford, Coquille, and Myrtle Point.
“We take immense pride in our team and the community for their generous contributions,” says Marketing and Member Services Manager Keith Buchhalter. “Witnessing the collective impact we can achieve when working together is truly inspiring.”
CCEC and Beacon Broadband invite members and customers to participate in October. Bring nonperishable food items to any office location. Staples such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, and baby formula are consistently in high demand. These essential items ensure local communities remain nourished during the colder months of the year.
For those unable to drop off food at the offices, CCEC and Beacon Broadband have established an alternative option. Members and customers can make monetary contributions directly benefiting the food banks through the Coos-Curry Electric Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The foundation efficiently channels contributions directly to food banks in the region. Monetary donations are particularly valuable because they allow food banks to acquire items that may be in short supply when other types of donations come in. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in ensuring families have access to food and experience a sense of well-being.
Individuals who wish to provide cash donations directly to the food banks through the Coos-Curry Electric Charitable Foundation can do so by using the designated PayPal donation link on the foundation’s website, www.ccecf.org. Such contributions play a pivotal role in addressing food scarcity and fostering optimism within the community.
As we eagerly anticipate the October Food Drive, keep in mind that collaborative efforts can have a substantial impact. Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative and Beacon Broadband exemplify how members and customers can come together to uplift the local community and create a better environment for everyone. Let’s embrace the enthusiasm and extend a helping hand to those who are most vulnerable
