Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CCEC) Board President Daniel Loshbaugh was recognized at the July board meeting for successfully earning the prestigious National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Director Gold Certificate.
Director Gold is NRECA's premier certification program for directors who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to advancing their knowledge and performing their fiduciary duties to the highest standards. The rigorous program equips cooperative leaders to stay current with industry best practices and emerging challenges in the electric utility sector.
To achieve this distinguished certification, directors must first obtain both NRECA's Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) and Board Leadership Certificate (BLC), then complete three additional training credits from advanced coursework. Unlike other NRECA certificates, Director Gold includes a continuing education requirement, calling for directors to earn three credits of approved coursework every two years to maintain their certification status.
The comprehensive program covers critical areas including risk management, power supply operations, parliamentary procedure, emerging technology, and policy development. This advanced education prepares directors to navigate the complex challenges facing electric cooperatives in today's rapidly evolving energy landscape.
"Dan's achievement of the Director Gold Certificate reflects his consistent focus on excellence in cooperative governance," said Brent Bischoff, CCEC's Chief Executive Officer. "Dan has consistently gone above and beyond to strengthen his expertise. This commitment to continuous learning directly benefits our members and strengthens our cooperative."
Loshbaugh has served as a CCEC Board Director since 2016 and was elected Board President in June 2025. His leadership and commitment to professional development exemplify the high standards of governance that CCEC member-owners expect and deserve.
